Jeep Gladiator: Finally, a 4xe Version!

2024-05-09

Although there are some minor differences between the two models, the Jeep Gladiator essentially remains a truck version of the Wrangler. In short, many have long wondered why the Gladiator didn't offer all the same mechanical options as the Wrangler, especially the beloved 4xe combination favored by Jeep enthusiasts. Fortunately, there's no need to solve this mystery as the American truck will soon have its own plug-in hybrid version.

Jeep confirmed a few days ago that the 2025 version of the Gladiator will be available in a 4xe version. Antonio Filosa, the CEO of Jeep, announced it himself on his LinkedIn page.

Approved Mechanics

Unless stated otherwise, the Jeep Gladiator 4xe is expected to feature the same mechanics found under the hood of the Wrangler 4xe. This includes a combination of a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and an electric motor for a total output of 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. What makes this mechanic particularly interesting is the ability to travel approximately 35 kilometers in full electric mode. Unfortunately, no official data has been announced by Jeep regarding this yet.

According to Jeep, there should be no differences between the mechanics of the Wrangler and those of the Gladiator. Thus, the truck should benefit from the same 17.3 kWh battery pack.

This mechanic is starting to make its way across the Jeep lineup. The Gladiator will be the third model to benefit from it after the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee. It wouldn't be surprising to see it under the hood of most Jeep models in the coming years.

No launch date has been revealed by the manufacturer yet, but more information is expected in the coming months. Remember that the 2024 Jeep Gladiator arrived just a few months ago in our market. Therefore, I believe patience will be required before seeing the first examples of the Jeep Gladiator 4xe hitting Canadian soil. However, I remain convinced that the wait will be worth it.
