The Ram 1500 is renowned among half-ton truck drivers for its consistently high standards of power, technology, and comfort. The new 2021 model refresh is now available for sale at our Strathroy dealership, and it offers plenty to be excited about. Here are the main features you can expect from this latest release.
What's New in the 2021 Ram 1500
The 2021 Ram 1500 keeps the same basic powertrain and engineering as the 2020 release, but adds new tech features including a head-up display, a digital rear view mirror, and a trailer steering assist system.
Powerful Options Under the Hood
Ram 1500 buyers are spoiled for choice when it comes to engines in the 2021 model. The base-level configuration offers a 3.6L V6 backed up by a 48V mild hybrid system, together putting out a generous 305 horsepower and 269lb-ft of torque.
Moving up to the 5.7L V8 brings output figures of 395hp and 410lb-ft, with the optional mild hybrid feature lowering fuel consumption while maintaining the output.
Diesel needs are catered for by the 3.0L turbo mill which supplies 260 horsepower and a hefty 460lb-ft. However, those looking for the ultimate in half-ton truck performance should head for the ludicrously powerful TRX model, boasting a 6.2L Hellcat V8 cranking out 702 horsepower and 650lb-ft of torque.
High Capability
All this power under the hood translates into some impressive capability figures. All versions of the 2021 Ram 1500 can carry a highly respectable 1,052kg of payload in their pickup beds, but it's the high-end towing capacity which really stands out. A maximum figure of 5,873kg in trailer weight is head and shoulders above any other half-tonner on the market.
Advanced Interior Tech
Whereas some pickups offer a spartan, bare-bones interior experience, the Ram 1500's cabin features levels of tech more usually seen in a high-end family SUV. Touchscreens of 5", 8", or even 12" give easy access to the infotainment systems, with the two larger sizes offering both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.
Navigation is available on the 8" display and standard on the 12", while extra connectivity is provided by USB-A and USB-C ports in both the front and second rows.
